Nov 6, 2011AutoCAD VB :: Unable To Determine Location Of Data In Drawing
Jan 13, 2012Most of my VBA programming is in Inventor and my AutoCAD coding is not that strong. I have tried listing the text, browsed the drawing database (vLisp editor), tried the data extraction tool and run (entget (car (entsel))) and so far have been unable to find the embedded data.
I am trying to access the embedded data because the erp system updates the visible text with the BOM item number when the BOM is changed in the erp screen (which is very time consuming and a big pain), however this fails when our drafting guys take a shortcut and change the number manually. With multiple balloons, we cannot tell which one(s) have been changed manually. I am hoping to code a macro that displays the embedded data which can be compared to the visible text value.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Scale Of Drawing Field Versus Scale Of Object
Jun 27, 2013The scale of the objects I draw vs. the scale of the drawing field is very out of proportion. What I mean is, when I open a new drawing and draw a 30' -0' line, the line appears so long on the screen that I cannot see the whole object, even if I zoom out to the maximum. I should be able to see the object in it's entirety. In fact, when I draw a line that is only 12' long, even when the zoom is all the way out, the line looks huge in length. I have tried adjusting the units to the architectural/inches setting of course, and I have tried adjusting the scale in model space from 1:1 to 1/4'=1'-0', but nothing is working.

Dec 6, 2013I want to run a script to reconcile new layers in the sheet drawings after having cleaned the xref drawings, and the script bombs if there are no new layers present in the parent drawing.
If I could determine what triggers the layereval/layernotify sequence (tblsearch?) I could include an if or while lisp routine that would invoke the layer command and then reconcile the new layers.

It looks like I should Engineering units though I am not sure whether the connectors and switches that will be on this faceplate will allow for decimal partial inches.
Based on those dimension should I use 1:3 drawing scale?

Oct 12, 2011I draw a line that is 1.27 long. When I dimension the line the resulting value is .635. I have double checked that my primary units are set to a scale factor of 1 and the problem still persists. Even more strange is that if I set the primary unit scale to 1.5 the resulting dimension value is correct at 1.905, with primary scale of 2 the dimension is 2.54, etc. I have used AutoCAD for many years and never run into this issue.I am dimensioning in the model space when this occurs and using AutoCAD LT 2012.
AutoCad :: Why Drawing Is Not Plotting To Scale
Apr 2, 2011When I plot the drawing, setting the scale in the properties box to 1:1 or 1:2 (or whatever scale I choose) then selecting File, Plot etc, (leaving the scale in the 'Plot Scale' section of the dialog box as shown - normally 1:1) the resulting plot is slightly smaller than expected. What should be say 200mm is more like 199 mm.
I am using AutoCad 2007 and a local domestic type printer (HP type) connected via a USB line.

AutoCad 2D :: How To Setup Scale Of Drawing
May 3, 2013Luckily, I found an CAD template that already have scaled text and dimension size setup. now, I have to set different scale in the model space according on which scale i wanna plot on view port.
but for annotative scale, what scale should i use in model space? Overall, I just want all my text to be in same size when print out and in a readable size.
I setup my paper in 22x34 but mostly print out in 11x17 paper for office use.

Jan 19, 2013AutoCAD Inventor :: Scale Dimensions In IDW Drawing?
Jan 11, 2013The reason I'm asking is because I'm making a flat layout sketch for pockets around a drum. So imagine taking a drum and rolling it out flat. In the direction along the drum I drew it as 1' = 1' and for the circumfrence direction I did 1' = 10° so I don't have sketch that is 13' x 360'. So I need to scale the dimensions in 1 direction up by 10.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Which Variable Contains The Scale Of Drawing
Jun 21, 2012tell me which variable contains the scale of drawing?
When the drawings you create contain real-world objects that are larger than the printed page, such as the furniture in an office, you need to draw to scale. This article explains how you can change the scale in a Microsoft Visio drawing.
- Display the page for which you want to change the drawing scale. You can set a different drawing scale for each page in your drawing.
- First locate the page tab of the page you want to change. The page tab is in the lower-left corner of the drawing area. In the following example, the page tab is represented by Page-1, but your page tab may have a different name like VBackground-1 for a background page.
- Right-click the page tab, click Page Setup, and then click the Drawing Scale tab.
- Select Pre-defined scale, and then click a pre-defined architectural, metric, or engineering scale; or select Custom Scale and type your own scale values.
- To change the measurement units (such as feet or meters), click the Page Properties tab, and in the Measurement units list, click the units that you want.
- Click Apply to save your changes and update the drawing page.To give the background pages the same drawing scale, click the background page (for example, VBackground-1) and perform the same steps.
- Display the page for which you want to change the drawing scale. You can set a different drawing scale for each page in your drawing.
- On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Drawing Scale tab.
- Click Pre-defined scale, and then click a pre-defined architectural, metric, or engineering scale; or click Custom Scale and type a custom scale.
- To change the measurement units (such as feet or meters), click the Page Properties tab, and in the Measurement units list, click the units that you want.
- Click Apply to save your changes and update the drawing page.To give the background pages the same drawing scale, display the background page and follow steps 1–5.The drawing shows the new settings. Shapes might appear larger or smaller, but their real-world size does not change. Rulers show the new measurement units.
What is drawing scale in Visio?
The drawing scale determines how a distance on the page represents a distance in the real world. For example, 1 inch on an office layout might represent 1 foot in the actual office. In metric drawings, 2 centimeters might represent 1 meter. You can change the drawing scale in any Visio drawing.
Some templates, such as the Office Layout template, open with a pre-defined drawing scale. These drawings are called scaled drawings.
Some templates, such as the Basic Flowchart template, open with a drawing scale of 1:1, which means that 1 inch or centimeter on the printed page represents 1 inch or centimeter in the real world. These drawings are sometimes called unscaled drawings; you use them to create abstract drawings that don't represent actual objects in the real world.
Drawing scales are sometimes expressed as a ratio without measurement units. For example, the metric scale for an office layout might be expressed as 1:50, which is the same as 2 cm = 1 m if you measure distances in centimeters and meters.
The smaller the ratio, the larger the area you can represent:
- With a scale such as 1:100 (metric units) or 1/8' = 1' (US units), you can draw an entire floor on one page.
- With a scale such as 1:10 (metric units) or 1' = 1' (US units), you can focus in on one cubicle.
When you choose a drawing scale, Microsoft Office Visio sets the measurement units and page units automatically.
Measurement units represent sizes or distances in the real world. In an office layout with a drawing scale of 2 cm = 1 m (1:50), meters are the measurement unit. In a drawing scale of 1/4' = 1', feet are the measurement unit.
Page units represent sizes or distances on the printed page. In an office layout with a drawing scale of 2 cm = 1 m (1:50), centimeters are the page unit. In a drawing scale of 1/4' = 1', inches are the page unit.
